in the beginning
The predecessor of MODELbuilder emerged somewhere end 2003 or beginning of 2004 as a set of tools used to import data, develop a model and estimating the model parameters. The tool initially was only capable of developing polynomial models and was written in Delphi.
version 0.0.0
In November 2004 the project got registered at www.sourceforge.net under the name datamodeler. At that time the original tools were polished up and released as datamodeler-0.0.0.
version 0.1.0
Datamodeler-0.1.0 was released on November 30th 2004, the different tools were merged into one application.
version 0.2.0
On December 31st 2004 version 0.2.0 was released, the biggest change was the addition of a datagrid to manipulate the imported data.
version 0.3.0
The 0.3.0 version released on January 21st 2005 had some minor improvements over 0.2.0.
version 0.5.0
Until version 0.3.0 all development was done in Delphi 7 personal edition. After 0.3.0 a lot of effort has been put into porting 0.3.0 to Lazarus an opensource objectpascal RAD. The main reason for this decision is that Lazarus has a near identical syntax to Delphi but is supported on all main platforms and architectures and it’s free. The porting took a long time because at the same time the code was completely rewritten. This lead to the release of 0.5.0 on February 15th 2006. 0.4.0 never saw light to emphasize the fundamental changes made to the code. Also from now on stable releases would get only even minor revision numbers and development versions would carry odd numbers.
version 0.6.0
0.6.0 was released on February 27th 2006 and had little to no changes compared to the 0.5.0 releases. But was released to highlight the last datamodeler release.
version 0.7.0
Until 0.6.0 the application was called datamodeler, but this was still the project working title. A lot of thought went in and finally the project was renamed to MODELbuilder on March 28th 2006. The first MODELbuilder development release (0.7.0-RC1) was done on May 21st 2006. Biggest changes here were the porting of the source to SVN, the conversion of the application to SDI, support of translations, graphing of data.
